    Read, Engage, And Come Together Calling all Teens! Join us at the Library for our Teens REACT TED Talk afternoon. We will gather around the screen with some popcorn to watch and discuss TED talks around this month's Civic Engagement theme of Poverty and Food Insecurity. Mia Birdsong, co-director of Family Story and Vice President of the Family Indepence Initiative "The story we tell about poverty isn't true" Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, author of the National Book Circle Critics award-winner, Americanah "The danger of a single story" Jarret J. Krosoczka, author of National Book Award Finalist, Hey, Kiddo "How a boy became an artist" Please bring a non-perishable food donation for our local food pantry if you are able.

  2. East Side of Addiction - Book talk and panel discussion

    November 15, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Chelmsford Public Library

    Join us for a panel discussion featuring the authors of East Side of Addiction: The East Side of Addiction tells the story of how drug addiction ravaged a working class immigrant enclave in Worcester, Massachusetts and the close-knit group of young friends who lived there—and how several of the lucky ones managed to survive. It is the story of recovery and overcoming addiction. The authors will lead a discussion that focuses on risk factors for developing the disease of addiction, the feelings from which alcohol/drugs provide relief, and the various forms denial takes in keeping a person addicted. Copies of the book will be on sale at the event or reserve a copy ahead of time through our catalog

  4. Holiday Fair at Central Congregational Church

    November 17, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Central Congregational Church

    Holiday Fair at Central Congregational Church On Saturday, November 17 the Central Congregational Church, UCC, One Worthen St. Chelmsford, MA will hold their Annual Holiday Fair from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Admission is free and there is ample parking. There will be something for everyone! The media zone will have games, books, DVDs and more. Tables include handmade crafts, plants, and a huge jewelry selection. As in the past there will be baked pastries, cookies, breads and the famous apple pies made on site. Fair Trade coffee and chocolate will be available for purchase. The silent auction will feature sports tickets, theme baskets, jewelry, holiday items and much more. A light lunch will be available from 11:15 am. Come early and shop 'til you drop, then stay for lunch. There is no better way to start the holiday season! Phone 978-256-5931 for more information.

This entry in our film series will explore the issue of hunger in America through the stories of three people in different parts of the country struggling to find adequate nutrition.
